All Aussie /Australian Bulldog lines are broken up into percentages for the appropriate breeding combinations , and as of the 1st of January 2005 all Aussie /Australian Bulldogs Registered with the UABA will have their individual Breed percentage issued on their Breed certificate .There are very few lines of Aussies that stem back 10 generations of breeding , and amongst the huge number of Aussie Bulldogs in the country at the moment 40% of them are at the very early stages , 1st generation , 2 nd generation and 3rd generation making up the majority of this percentage .With the right advice on breeding most of these lines of dogs can be brought up to an acceptable percentage to be classified as a suitable breeder. 13/16 has always been our most sort after fraction , this in percentages is exactly 81.25 % . This can be achieved by putting a male that is 7/8 British Bulldog , back to a female that is 3/4 British Bulldog or you can put a 100% British Bulldog male over a female that is 5/8 . These 5/8 are generally always the result of putting a 3/4 back to a 1/2 which is a straight cross of a British Bulldog and an outside breed , example : Staffy or Boxer or Bullmastiff . 13/16 dogs can then be put back to 13/16 and their progeny can be put back to unrelated progeny from the same percentage matings and so on .This is then done continually and selectively forever , given that we always have a good supply of unrelated or slightly related dogs to breed back to .This would explain why it is still necessary to create and encourage new lines of dogs and establish their breeding percentages on the correct path .Keeping these matings and percentages as close to the desirable fractions to make it easier to calculate the correct percentage for future matings , always trying to avoid going below 60% and over 90% as the dogs below 60% do not have any strength in carrying consistency in type and the dogs over 90% generally tend to follow some of the concerning health problems that obviously effect some pure British bulldogs .

If you are looking at breeding and you are not sure on which stud dog to use percentage wise that would be compatible to your female , feel free to contact the UABA so that they can help you with the appropriate choice of dogs that would be most compatible to your female please email uaba@bigpond.net.au
