Thought i would show you where we live, 'Mt Gambier' is basically built around The Mt Gambier which is an extinct Volcano and is our water supply (the Blue Lake)

Mt Shank is nearby

And We are ontop of and surrounded by Caves and Sink holes

BEAUTIFUL.
Thats the best way to see the countryside.
Were you in a Chopper or a light aeroplane.
That last photo is amazing.  Can you tell us a bit more about that.
It has obviously been turned into a landscaped garden, but is it a private yard or Council park.

I hope you put a few deep test holes down before you built your place. Very Happy

That last one is The Upherston Sink Hole, It is council owned land... Very popular with tourists and for weddings.  Im sure alot of work went into it years ago.
There is another one right in the middle of the city with a waterfall in it.

Its the old place you have to worry about  Laughing  I wouldnt be buying one of those houses without some testing.  One of the primary schools is ontop of a cave  Confused

Call me paranoid, but I would be always worried about the bloody things, either erupting or sinking another couple hundred feet.
I heard that a few people disappeared in that Blue Lake, and that it is bottomless, is that correct.

A few people have jumped in over time i think... Pretty well bottemless, nobody can tell how deep it is as before you reach the bottom you would simply crush from the water pressure..
Definately not a lake to swim in  Laughing
Mt Gambier is extinct  but Mt Shank is dormant and one of the youngest volcanoes its scary when you think about it,  Not long ago someones back yard collapsed into a cave!!  We dont live on a cave thank god!
