Below are the variation of colours as per the UABA breed standard.
Variation of Colours : shades of brindles , reds & fawns , pied colouring being one colour more dominate than another with patches on body .
Cinnamon red or cinnamon red brindle (rare) . Black or tri coloured are not recognized by the UABA .White with black patches are acceptable (pied)
Hope this answers your question.

As per Tammy's reply, the UABA does not recognise black or tri colour, but we are very interested in trying to create some blues.
I feel that the only way we might ever see blue Aussie bulldogs, is if it comes from the introduction of Blue English Staffies, and nothing else.
Staffordshire bullterriers have a very stable personality with humans, and when compared to American staffies, or Neapolitan Mastiffs, the English Staffy always comes up trumps in stable nature.
We are hopeful that this colour ( BLUE) will be eventually produced in the Aussie bulldogs.
I strongly believe that by always having an open breeding program with various stages of development, then the UABA should always be able to throw a life line across to a related breed to enhance or expand on already established lines.

Hi Joel,
You posted a very similar question in another forum, I was just wondering if there was anything specifically you wanted to know about coat colouring that we may be able to help you with?
Also Noel what stage did the Great Southern Bulldog get to?

i was just wondering what possibliites were out there, i do like the red and white, but want something a little more unusual but defiently healthy. i also like the cinnamon. me and my partner are hopefully going to get into breeding. at this stage i'm working on my breeding plan/goals and i know i have been critised many times for focussing on colour, but i personally think colour is major factor, especially considering many people buy their dogs as pets, and most pet owners are superficial and go for colour. i am just seeing if its possible to get healthy but unusual. i have read that blue and cinnamons are both influenced by the dilution gene and therefore thought they would be a good match up if these colours were avaliable.
i have also seen a silver brindle, which took my fancy but i prefer this colour in its early stage of grey/silver before it changes to the fawny look. is it possible to get a dog of this type of grey colouring which it keeps for its life?

i asked this question on a few forums because each association is slightly different so i wasn't sure if the colours varied between associations.

You are right Joel there is a difference of opinion when it comes to colour. You will find that none of the foundation dogs used in the Jag or Wingara lines (these being the better original lines of Aussie Bulldogs) accept tri colour in their standard. Black is only accepted in the English Staffordshire Bull Terrier which is a small part of the Aussie Bulldog foundation.
As for colour playing a role in breeding dogs it varies with breeders. There used to be a post by Noel that mentioned the main focus of breeders, the order or priority placed on each point changed with every breeder and in some cases every mating. But all qualities are and should be considered when pairing Aussie Bulldogs.

Health
Temperament

Selective breeding will always maximise the chance of producing a desirable trait.
For instance the more the cinnamon gene dogs are bred, the more consistent they are at producing the cinnamon colour nose. Selectively breeding cinnamon gene dogs will eventually produce entire litters of cinnamon colour.
I am not an expert on genetics and I don't know much about the blue gene other than what you know that it is a dilution of black. There was an English Staffordshire breeder here in Victoria that was doing Bulldog/Blue Staffy crosses. I think the litter produced 2 blue females and 1 blue male out of 8 pups.
In regards to dogs that are black pied, Gustybell Aussie Bulldogs own a very dark brindle pied girl Hargo Bella, which looked black when she was a pup. And the ABS have a couple of black pied dogs and a tri colour dog.
When it comes to silver brindle the only dog I can think of off the top of my head is Macobri Shrek owned by Sudar who has a very light fawn and light brindle striping.
