He's agreat looking Bullie ! The importance of the Aussie bulldog as a breed really hit home for me whilst I was recently in Auckland and helped my sister ( a british b/d breeder) deliver by caeserian her females puppies.
4 out of 5 did not make it, cleft palates, spinal deformities, water logged etc..
Thanks to Noel and Tina and others for establishing the Aussie Bulldog breed. |

Hi Allan
I have to say. I dont ever remember seeing so many bulldogs around in my 40 years of life, as there is now.
Something must be going right with the Aussies.
I am not bagging the BBd in any way, but I personally know of 3 british bulldog breeders that have given up trying to breed them, and are hoping to focus a bit more seriously on breeding Aussie bulldogs.
In saying this, I have heard of successful litters of British bulldogs with 13 pups..

Hi Allan,
Its sad to hear about the BBD. My vet told me that very BBD he has had to help with the birth has ended in a c-section and large % of the time they lose pups. |

| Sad to hear about the BBD's. I've only met one other guy in WA who has a ABD, but it looked nothing like Gus! He was more boxer than bull dog.... anyway there you go. I really am surprised by the amount of people who love and enjoy their own "gus's" around OZ. Hope the breed gets recognised soon!! (or has it already?....not sure) |

Hi Scott,
The aussie is recognised by the general community. If they haven't seen one they have generally heard of them. And once they get to know one, nearly everyone wants one. And the way most of the AB breeding programs are going - the breed is just going to go from strength to strength.
But I wouldn't go getting your hopes up for the breed to be recognised by the Kennel Club or by "pure bred" dog breeders. But who needs that anyway?
Anyone who is owned by an Aussie KNOWS they have the best dog in the world |
